11-speed Hub Conversion

A common question we receive is – "Can I convert my hub to 11-speed Shimano, SRAM, or Campagnolo compatibility?"  The short answer is – it depends.

All current Hed wheels (from ~Oct 2013 and forward) are sold from the factory with compatibility for Shimano/SRAM 9, 10, and 11-speed, or Campagnolo's unique 9, 10, and 11-speed freehub.  Whether or not your older Hed wheel is compatible with the new, longer freehub depends on which model of wheel and hub you have.

1.  INFO FOR OLDER JET, STINGER, ARDENNES WHEELS (INCLUDING REAR DISC WHEELS):

Most older-style spoke wheels sold from ~2008-2013 (Jet, Stinger, Ardennes, etc) are convertible to 11-speed; these feature a 15mm axle.  Please refer to our hub chart (above) to find out which specific model year of hub you have.  In most cases, the rear wheel will need to be re-dished by a small amount.  Rear Jet and Stinger disc wheels cannot be converted to 11-speed.  Older spoked wheels with 12mm-axle Sonic hubs are also not compatible with 11-speed.

2.  INFO FOR OLDER H3 WHEELS:

More recent H3's (2007+) can be converted to 11-speed with our H3 conversion cassette body (for H3 12mm axle).  Older H3's cannot be converted – please call us to confirm which style you have if you aren't sure.

Note: The Shimano/SRAM 11-speed freehub can also be used with 8, 9, and 10-speed cassettes, using an appropriate cassette spacer.  Use our 2.8mm spacer for Shimano 10-speed cassettes (withOUT using Shimano's supplied 1mm spacer), or use our 1.8mm spacer with Shimano 9-speed, or SRAM 9/10-speed cassettes.
