What happens when you combine the world’s fastest clincher wheels with unbelievable wet and dry braking? What if you add a murdered-out all-black appearance that would make Batman jealous? In a couple words: Jet Black.
Starting from our revolutionary 25mm-wide Jet Plus aluminum rim, we spent hundreds of hours testing and refining a new braking surface, called Turbine Braking Technology. With special machining and surface coating, the result a super clean all-black appearance and outstanding brake performance. Additionally, the consistency of stopping distances has improved by nearly a factor of five. That’s not a typo. Our all-black alloy rim and carbon cap give you all of the cool factor, and none of the safety compromises of rim brake carbon clinchers. No melted rims. No tire and tube failures. Only True Speed.
The Jet 6 Black is perhaps the fastest wheel for any discipline on any day. Put another way, if you were to roll the dice on weather conditions, hills, wind, frame design, and every other potential variable, chances are that your ideal wheel would be this one. Some pair a rear Jet 6 Black with a front Jet 4 Black, when side winds are extreme. Others may pair a front Jet 6 Black with a rear Jet 9 Black, for the ultimate combination of aerodynamics, handling, and speed.
This wheel is available in either a standard build with 18 front spokes and 24 rear spokes, or a Stallion build with 20 front spokes and 28 rear spokes. The Stallion build is stiffer, and ideal for strong riders or those around 200 lbs and above.
1. We do NOT recommend hanging a bike equipped with Jet wheels from hooks - this can damage the carbon skin and will not be covered under warranty.
2. The coating on HED Black-series rim brake wheels is a formulation that is harder than the cosmetic coating on many aluminum rims. With some forethought and minimal maintenance on the rider’s part, it will last a long time. Use of clean rubber brake pads (intended for use with alloy rims) will result in the longest life of the Black surface. Road grit and rocks that become embedded in the brake pads will cause the coating to wear much faster and affect the rims’ appearance and life span. Be advised that wet and/or dirty road surfaces will contaminate your brake pads. Regularly inspecting, cleaning, and replacing your brake pads will help prolong rim life.
